In preparation for the upcoming competitions as well as organised special
invitational training, the NSW Fencers in Foil and Sabre will spend the
next 3 days at the Hong Kong Institute of Sport with the HK National Team.
NSW Fencers from UNSW, MVB & SSC are participating.

Birthday celebrations for 2 of our fencers

Day 2!

Maxi poule fencing with U/14, Cadet and Junior Hong Kong National team fencers.

Day 3!

All the NSW Fencers participated in a National Training
Competition's with the HK fencers. These competitions
are part of specific training that all weapons in the National
Team do weekly so that the National and Assistant coaches
can assess the fencers development in a competition environment.

The Foilist competed with Cadet, Junior / Senior team, several
of whom are preparing for World Cups and the upcoming U/23 Asian Championships.

The Sabreur's had a fantastic opportunity to compete against not
on several U/15 fencers, but mainly cadets who are all trying for
places on the National Team and had been invited by the National coach
to specifically fence with our fencers and also that they could be
viewed and assessed by the National Coaches.

The boys field was roughly 20 and the girls field was 5.
(The girls field were all cadets).

Boys Sabre
  Top 8
James Siu, Jack Snell & Sean Andrews
Jack had brilliantly close bout for the 4 going out 13/15.

 Top 16
Kai Hardge, Christian Hely & Finlay Jones
Kai and Christian were defeated by their own countrymen

Top 32
 James Boyd-Hoare
Defeated by his countrymen

These training competitions were a fantastic experience for all the
fencers. Even though there were no medals at the end of the day. All
the HK fencers were there to seriously compete, so this was essentially

as real and good as it gets!
