ASIAN CADET CIRCUIT
Objectives:
• To enhance the development of Asian cadet fencers and thus hasten the overall
competitiveness of Asian fencers in the world of fencing.
• To encourage more young fencers in Asia to participate in international competitions
Cadet Season
A cadet season starts in February (with the Asian Juniors/Cadets) until January (before the next
Asian Juniors/Cadet) in the following year. Initially the plan is to schedule at least 3 cadet
competitions per weapon during the season. The overall ranking earned (AJC plus the best 3
circuit competitions) by cadet fencers will be considered in the seeding of fencers in next year’s
AJC.
Cadet Competitions
Each cadet competition will be organized in an Asian country approved by the FCA Board. Such
cadet competition should be in individual events for boys and girls (in the same weapon) played
over a weekend. Points earned by participating fencers will be considered in the season’s overall
cadet ranking.
Organizing countries may include team events should there be enough interested fencers, but no
points will be awarded
Host countries may enter a maximum of 64 fencers, while other participating countries are
limited to a maximum of 20 fencers. Fencers from other continents are welcome and will be
subjected to the same conditions to participate.
Entries and Fees
All participating cadet fencers must have a valid Asian license for the season, issued by the
FCA. Cadet fencers must register with the FCA to apply for such license and pay an annual fee
of US$25 to the FCA.
To participate in any Asian cadet competition, all participating fencers (even those from other
zones/continents) must be endorsed by their federations.
Cadet fencers with valid Asian license interested to participate in any scheduled cadet
competition in the season must register through the FCA website at least one week before the
start of competition.
Participating cadet fencers should pay an Entry Fee directly to the organizers of the
competition. The maximum entry fee to be paid is US$40 per individual, and US$60 per team
(to participate in team events)
Organizers may charge additional amounts should participating fencers require assistance for
hotel booking, airport transfer, transportation to venue, receptions, etc.
Points and Ranking
FIE formula scale of points will be applied in general
The points (earned during the AJC plus the best 3 circuit competitions) will be counted into the
Ranking. Seeding for next year’s AJC will consider the results of last year’s WJC plus the
overall Asian cadet ranking of the current season.
Following multiplication coefficients for points in ranking awarding will be applied according to
the number of participant:
Number of Participants 5 – 7 Countries 8 – 12 Countries 13 > Countries
30 to 50 1 1.5 2
51 to 100 1.5 2 2.5
101 and over 2 2.5 3
No points will be awarded in competitions where there are less than 5 Asian countries and less
than 30 participants (among them at least 30% foreigners).
FCA shall be responsible for tabulating the overall Asian cadet ranking based on the points
awarded during the competition
Awards
Organizers must provide all participants with a Certificate of Participation, design of which must
be approved by the FCA
Organizers must provide the top 8 placers in each event a Diploma, design of which must be
approved by the FCA
Medals for the top 4 placers in each event will be provided by the FCA
Cash prizes and/or gifts may be offered by the organizers but are optional
Qualification of Fencers
All participating fencers must be at least 12 years old and not be more than 16 years of age on
December 31 of the year preceding the competition, (same condition for the AJC and WJC of the
same year).
Exceptionally, fencers who are at least 10 years old at the time of competition may be allowed to
participate provided they possess a written consent from parents and endorsed by his/her
federation.
Equipment and Uniforms
Fencers must use standard FIE uniforms/equipment (800 NW for clothing, 1600 NW masks, 800
NW under garment/plastron, FIE homologated blades). No name on the back of the fencers
clothing is required
Uniforms with markings other than of the official federation (such as schools, clubs) may be
allowed.
Referees and Competitions Officials
Participating countries must be accompanied by qualified referees based on the following quota:
1 – 4 fencers no referee required
5 – 9 fencers, 1 referee
10 – 15 fencers, 2 referees
16 – 20 fencers, 3 referees
Non respect of referee quota is sanctioned by US$500 for every missing referee.
Qualified referees are those with good national or international level qualification and
experience.
Host/organizing countries must provide at least two (2) FIE licensed referees coming from
different countries.
Host/organizing countries must have qualified competition officials.
FCA will designate one official Referees Delegate from among the participating referees
System and Formula of Competition
Generally, FIE technical and competition rules are to be respected
Formula of competition:
With 30 to 50 fencers: two rounds of pools followed by direct elimination table with
“repechage” from T-32
With 51-100 fencers: one round of pools followed by direct elimination table with “repechage”
from T-32
With 101 or more fencers: one round of pools followed by direct elimination table without
repechage.
From the round preceding the DE table, at least 20% and maximum of 25% of participation
should be eliminated
All competitions should use the Engarde system or equivalent
