Mosman Daily Article on Sean - Nomination for Junior Sports Star

Mosman Daily Article - Sean Andrews

YOUNG UP-AND-COMER WITH BRIGHT FUTURE

Cremorne fencer with bright future FROM the day he picked up his first sword, Sean Andrews hasn’t looked back.
The 14-year-old has been fencing for five years, after his mum suggested he give it a go, and he’s known in fencing circles as one to watch.
He is this week’s Junior Sports Star nominee, sponsored by Rebel.
“We’re on a bit of a break from training at the moment, but usually I train about four times per week,” he said.
“At the moment I don’t have any real goals of where I want to go with the sport, but I do think it’s probably going somewhere.”
The Cremorne fencer has a huge future as a fencer, if that’s the route he chooses to follow, and he was this year crowned the under-15 Australian Champion.
The Shore student lists this as his most memorable achievement, but it is one of many on a dazzling resume.
The NSW and Aussie squad member also won gold for Australia in the 2014 Singapore World Cup, and is looking forward to pulling on the green and gold in Hong Kong in October and Japan next January.
But despite his successes, he remains a typical teenager, and he maintains there’s more to just winning for him in the sport.

“I like that it’s mainly an individual sport, but that you still create some really good friendships along the way,” he said. To nominate visit juniorsportsstar.com.au
